St. Petersburg, FL -
Michael C. White, author of A
Brother's Blood (Harper Collins), a NY Times Book Review
Notable Book of 1996 as well as a Barnes and Noble Discover
Great New Writers Selection contributes to annual Word Smitten
event.
Author and creative writing instructor Michael C. White
will judge WordSmitten's annual Storycove Flash Fiction Contest,
officials from the international literary magazine WordSmitten
announced today.
White, the author of many novels, (newest release is Soulcatcher)
also is the founding editor of the yearly anthology American
Fiction and editor of Dogwood: A Journal of Poetry
and Prose. Renowned
for packed classrooms, Michael C. White, Ph.D., is a professor
of English at Connecticut's Fairfield University where he teaches
fiction, writing workshops and literature courses.
He
also is a part of the core faculty of Stonecoast, the University
of Southern Maine's MFA program, and a previous speaker at the
University of South Florida's Suncoast Writers Conference.
Novels
written by Michael C. White include A Brother's Blood
(Harper Collins), which was a NY Times Book Review Notable
Book of 1996 as well as a Barnes and Noble Discover
Great New Writers Selection.
His novel, The Blind Side of the Heart (Harper Collins)
was an alternate Book-of-the-Month Club selection. He is noted
for A Dream of Wolves (Harper Collins), which received
starred reviews from Publisher's Weekly and Booklist.
The
Garden of Martyrs, White's recent novel, was published
by St. Martin's Press and is a historical novel based on an
actual miscarriage of justice. The story unravels a fact-based
plot set in New England during the rampant anti-Irish, anti-Catholic
sentiments which were prevalent during the late century. Look
for it online and in stores this spring.
His short fiction has been nominated for a National Magazine
Award and a Pushcart, and has won first prize in the Advocate
Newspapers Fiction Award. For writing tips from Michael C. White
