Noy
Holland, a professor in the University of Massachusetts
MFA Program for Poets & Writers, currently writes short stories
and is working on a summer project in the hills of Montana.
Her
first book, The
Spectacle of the Body (Knopf),
was nominated for a National Book Award.
Her
stories have appeared in The Quarterly, Story Quarterly, Glimmer
Train, Black Warrior Review, and Open City. 
She
has also taught at Phillips Andover and the University of Florida.
Additionally, she has received fellowships from the Massachusetts
Cultural Council, the MacDowell Colony and Bread Loaf Writers
Conference.
We
are very pleased to invite Professor Holland to be the 2003 Fiction
Judge for Word Smitten's annual short story competition.

Professor
Holland lives with her husband Sam and a number of critters which
may include turtles.
